- It is extremely important that you are present at your current residence the day of the move and remain there the entire time. Please make sure the moving company has completely packed all belongings.
- Prior to the moving company leaving for your new residence, please verify all pertinent information such as delivery address, date of delivery, all-pertinent telephone numbers, and directions to your new residence. It is also suggested that you have all of the moving company's pertinent information.
- Please identify all of your precious and fragile items clearly. It is recommended that you alert the moving company and the driver about these items.
- Personally transport all valuable items, vital documents, records, and jewelry. This will insure the safety of these items and prevent any possible accidents from occurring.
- Remain with the moving company's driver or project manager in order to oversee all items and to verify your inventory.
- Verify, approve and sign the Bill of Lading, and if the situation permits, please accompany the driver to the weigh station.
- Complete a final tour and make a mental inventory of your previous residence. Be sure to check and recheck all closets, dish washer, drawers, and shelves to verify that they are empty.
- If not already scheduled, be sure to call all of your utility companies to have services disconnected.
- Please check and recheck all doors and windows. This simple task will protect you in case an accident occurs and will relieve you of liability.
- Leave all keys and telephone numbers where you can be reached in the care of an apartment manager, realtor, or neighbor.
