Boston, MABoston, rich in history, commerce, culture, and visitor activities, can justifiably be called the hub of the six-state New England region. We are the capital and largest city in Massachusetts.

Boston sits on islet-dotted and picturesque Boston Harbor, at the mouth of the Charles River in the eastern part of the state. Our city presents a mix of old-money Yankee conservatism and a flair for the hip. We are composed of a youthful population and a heady multicultural mix.

Boston's' financial and commerce centers, in part responsible for the tourism industry, have created growth for some of the best restaurants, hotels, nightlife, and attractions in New England.

It is hard to turn a corner downtown without running into a historic site. The Freedom Trail, followed annually by thousands, connects many of these sites. The Paul Revere House (c. 1680), the Old North Church (1723), Faneuil Hall (1742-1805), and the Old State House (1748) are high points on the route. The architect Charles Bulfinch left Boston with a legacy of handsome Federal-style buildings, including the State House (1795-1798). Near the center of the city are Boston Common (set aside as public space in 1634) and the Public Garden, which form a large and popular outdoor recreational area downtown.

Sports lovers can enjoy our many sports teams. Boston's professional sports facilities include Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox baseball team, and the new FleetCenter, used by the Celtics basketball team and the Bruins ice hockey team.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra , founded in 1881, is one of the most esteemed orchestras in the world. Boston is an active theater town with a half-dozen theaters in continuous use. Included are several local repertory companies. We recently opened a refurbished opera house, and added a resident ballet company.

Of course our universities are world famous. MIT, Harvard, and Boston University are consistently ranked in the top 10 College rankings in America.

Boston is traditional and modern at the same time. We have something to offer everyone. We invite you to call Boston home!
